Heavy Removals

Coverage

Nationwide, and honest about what that means

No base town, no service radius, and no list of two hundred places we have never been. Here is how coverage actually works — including when you should ring somebody local instead.

We are not a local firm pretending to be national

Plenty of removal websites list two hundred towns they have never worked in. We are not going to do that. Heavy items and long-distance moves are planned jobs that travel to you, which is a genuinely different business from a van with a postcode radius.

We are not a national firm pretending to be local

Equally, we will not claim to know your street. If a job is a straightforward two-person house move within one town, a firm based in that town probably knows the parking better and may well be cheaper. We will say so.

What we are is a firm you send difficult things to

A safe on a first floor, a piano down a turning staircase, a multi-gym across three counties, a house full of solid furniture. Those are worth travelling for, and they are what the crew and the gear are set up around.

Regions worked

The whole of the United Kingdom

Listed as regions rather than as a town index, because a town index on a nationwide firm's website is a search tactic rather than information.

  • London and the South East
  • The South West
  • East Anglia
  • The Midlands
  • The North West
  • Yorkshire and the North East
  • Wales
  • Scotland

How a distant job actually gets planned

The survey happens first, remotely for most jobs — photographs, measurements and a video walk-round of the route out. Anything genuinely difficult gets a visit, and for a long distance that visit is planned rather than spontaneous. We also check the access at the destination, because arriving somewhere the vehicle cannot get near is the commonest way a long day turns into a very long one.

Then the vehicle and crew are scheduled around driver hours and around the access window at both ends. That is the whole reason nationwide work is possible without pretending to have a depot in every county.

Where this fits

Long-distance removals covers how a distance job is loaded and crewed. Heavy item removals covers what makes an item worth travelling for. And if you are leaving the country entirely, the European removals hub picks up from the Channel.

Coverage questions

Where exactly are you based?

We work nationwide rather than from a single shopfront, and we are not going to invent a home town to look local in a search result. What matters for your job is whether we can get a properly sized crew and the right gear to your address on your date, and that is a scheduling question rather than a map question.

Is there a minimum distance or job size?

No fixed rule. A single heavy item nearby and a full household three hundred miles away are both ordinary bookings. What we will tell you honestly is when a job is better suited to a firm on your doorstep.

Do you charge more for being further away?

Distance is one of the things a quote is built from, along with volume, access and the handling each item needs. It is not a surcharge bolted on afterwards — it is in the figure from the start.

Do you cover Scotland, Wales and the far South West?

Yes, all three, and they are regular destinations rather than exceptions. Long runs need a little more notice so the vehicle and the crew can be planned around driver hours properly.

What about islands and ferry crossings?

They are part of several routes. Sailings rather than mileage set the timetable, so tell us the destination early and we will plan the day around the crossing.

Wherever it is, describe the job

Both addresses, the heavy pieces and the access. We will tell you whether it is one for us and what it involves.
